Paul Oldfield with Katya - K K Magic Spirit

Katya with Paul had won the Burgess Supa Dog Large Agility Stakes 2008 and is now the proud owner of a marvellous crystal trophy and rosette. Paul brings all his dogs to Silverden for fitness training and is actually the very first client to have used the pool when we opened.
Congratulations to both of them for a super result.

Anya

Anya the German Shepherd suffered from CDRM which meant that she gradually lost the use of her hind legs but with help to get in she still enjoyed her swimming and the freedom the pool gave her to play with toys. She is seen here enjoying a dip with her constant companion and guardian.
She's off and running now no doubt...

Cato

Cato is 12 and a very happy boy but he does suffer from bilateral elbow osteoarthritis. At first he needed a little gentle persuasion to enter the pool but now he jumps in and plays with toys to his hearts content.

Bindi

This is Bindi, she was featured on BBC1 in the Supervets Program. She suffered skull compression in three places caused by a dog bite and she underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure on her brain. After Bindi's wounds had healed her owners brought her for hydrotherapy to help her co-ordination.

Hamish

Hamish has been coming for hydrotherapy since 2004 to ease his arthritic aches and pains and to keep his muscles toned. He is now 13 and enjoys playing with his toys in the pool: If he had his way he'd come every day!

Jess

Jess is a working sheepdog, she suffered a Fibro Cartilaginous Embolism in her spine which means that the use of her hind legs has been compromised. She swims weekly and her hindleg movement is improving. She now manages to walk around by herself and her owners are devising many ways to get her to strengthen her muscles. With a condition like this owners need to 'think outside the box' to encourage good leg movement.
Cap with owner Chris Cole

Cap is working hard in the pool to hone his fitness in readiness for agility competitions. He is owned by Chris Cole who trained many of the puppies/dogs in the film One Hundred and One Dalmations and who owns www.doggiesolutions.co.uk  an internet shop for all canine requirements. Chris has recently brought out a training dvd to help owners use a training collar correctly.

Jack
jackokoptimizednotk.jpg

Jack is a very active Flatcoat Retriever X, he thinks he is in his prime and is not past chasing a chicken or two on the farm where he lives but actually he is nearly 15 and going blind and deaf. He loves his squeaky plastic newspaper which he brings with him to his weekly hydrotherapy treatment. Cheesy treats are also much appreciated and he has adopted a pre-pay technique unique to him, he uses 'sniff nav' to negotiate his way around very effectively!
Jack recently ran over the Rainbow bridge, I'll miss our swims together...

Jade

Jade is 5 and fractured a bone in her foreleg, hydrotherapy has helped her to regain her strength and she is just starting to exercise off-lead again. She was unsure of swimming at first but now enjoys it very much. Her family is emigrating to New Zealand and she is going with them so many adventures await her.
Update: Now in New Zealand and enjoying life immensely.

Neto

Neto is a Pyranean Mountain Dog, he is doing well in the show ring and comes swimming once a week for fitness.

Ebony, Florence and Bronnie

Here Bronnie, Florence and Ebony use the pool together for fitness. They all compete in the agility ring and use our pool for training. Uniquely, they swim and receive treats in an orderly fashion which is unusual for collies but then, they are highly trained!

Suki

Suki is 12 years old and loves her treatment at Silverden. She suffers from bilateral osteoarthritis in her elbows and the warm water in the pool really eases her aches and pains plus ball playing is her favourite game and one she can't do on land but in the water she moves with ease.
Update: Suki has run over the Rainbow Bridge now but is fondly remembered and not forgotten.
