Sue Tovey - Proprietor of Silverden
Sue first thought of starting a canine hydrotherapy pool in 2000: She had been searching for something along
holistic lines that would run beside her business of home boarding and included therapy for dogs, a hydro pool
fitted perfectly. She has been interested in holistic medicine for many years and has studied Bach flower remedies and energy
healing. Her other passions are nature photography and studying wildlife and birds; she is never too far away
from her binoculars! She enjoys travelling abroad and has visited Yellowstone Park in Montana principally
to see Wolves and also Trinidad and Tobago where the birdlife is second to none. Her next trip is to Vancouver Island in Canada
to kayak among killer whales.
Having
originally hailed from Surrey where she was with the London Ambulance Service she moved down to Sussex 17 years ago and
has never wished to leave. She has worked with dogs for over 20 years and has a genuine empathy with them. She communicates
with them in the pool by touch rather than word and often feels a transfer of energy between herself and the dog
she is treating. She has devoted many hours to studying the techniques and movements that are most beneficial for
the dogs brought to her pool and is constantly searching for better ways to assist swift recovery time for them
too.
Having worked for many
years with a canine behaviourist she finds the ability to read canine body language invaluable when working with dogs who
are nervous or who have been injured and are recieving treatment. Using this knowledge she is able to quickly calm and reassure
them so that work can be started in the pool to point them on the road to recovery.
Sue
has just completed a workshop on animal communication and has discovered that she can effectively exchange pictures telepathically
with her clients (if they're willing to!). Although this is unbelievable to a lot of people the fact remains that it is
possible. If you ask her for information about it she will talk till the cows come home!
Sue is also the Canine Hydrotherapy Specialist for the Sussex Police Dog Welfare Panel.
Sue is very pleased to announce that her daughter
Faye is to join Silverden on a part-time basis. Faye has periodically worked with Sue in the poolroom since Silverden opened
when her career as a scenic artist permitted but has now decided to take a larger part in the business. She has great empathy
with all animals and dogs in particular and will be a great asset to the business. She is studying hard and completes
her canine hydrotherapy course in June this year.
