The pool at Silverden is 18feet long by 9feet wide and with a water depth
of 4ft 8ins this size allows us to give therapy to all sizes of dog.
At
Silverden there is a gently sloping ramp leading into the pool and a set of three steps in the opposite corner. Once
a dog is at home in the pool I encourage them to sit or stand on the steps and I can then lift the customised ramp
above the water to allow the whole pool to be used for exercise. This is especially useful for large breeds of dog who
require more room for turns and figure of eight movements and for dogs using the pool for fitness.
There is an electric hoist but it is only used
if no other option is available; maybe to lift a giant breed like a Newfoundland who is overweight.
We remove the sling to allow free swimming after pool entry so there is no feeling of being 'trapped', this enables your
dog to enjoy it's therapy treatment and have fun while exercising. With the use of toys and treats I ensure
your dog is rewarded for hard work and the use of these rewards also helps your dog remember their time in the pool as an
enjoyable experience.
